Chomel specializes in offering affordable, contemporary fashion jewelry for all occasions in the latest style. We carry a wide variety.

This is a popular collection at Chomel. It comes with rhodium, rose gold and gold plating. The collection is wide and perfect for everyday wear and all occasions. It is difficult to tell the difference between a real diamond and cz. CZ jewelry is perfect for everyday wear and when travelling so you do not have to worry about losing them.

Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is a synthetic gemstone gemstone made of cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. They are man made diamonds and it is difficult to tell the difference between the two. The only difference is CZ is manmade while real diamonds are natural from the ground. CZ has similar hardness and sparkle as real diamond and are affordable alternatives. One of the most important differences between cz and diamond is that cz is virtually flawless as they are manmade. Therefore, they can be very brilliant. Diamonds will have inclusions and imperfection inside the stone and to buy a flawless diamond will be very costly. Cubic Zirconia is an affordable alternative to pricey real diamonds.

Like diamonds, CZ is available in different shapes and sizes.

Real diamonds are classified in size by weight in carat. The most popular shape would be round. A 6mm diameter cz stone will be about 0.75 carats. Diamond prices are based on color, clarity, cut & carat weight.

Crystals fashion jewelry continues to be popular due to its wide variety of colours. Crystals are made of man-made glass. Glass is made from sand that has been liquified with a small amount of lead content added to give crystals its sparkle. Crystals come in a wide variety of colors and shapes and are widely used in fashion jewelry, hairwear, handbags, boxes, figurines, chandeliers etc. Crystals are not as brilliant as cubic zirconia stones as it has less faucets on the stones.

These man-made stones are made of acrylic to simulate the look of moonstone used for our Vintage Collection. They have a pearly opalescent shine. Moonstone is translucent and comes in colors of white, grey, orange, blue, pink, brown, multicolor. However the most popular would be white and pink. The moonstone is a symbol of light and hope and encourage us to embrace new beginnings.

Chomel is well known for its affordable collection of freshwater pearls. Freshwater Pearls are cultured in freshwater lake farms, hence their name. Sea Pearls are grown in saltwater from the sea and use different mussels. China is the main producer of Freshwater Pearls and they are now able to produce high quality pearls in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Pearls are produced when the pearl farmer inserts a small irritant into the mussels. The oyster will then produced nacre to surround the irritant to form a pearl. Cultured freshwater pearls are grown in freshwater pearl musses. Different types of oyster produced different colors of pearls. The mussels are nucleated with 1.0mm square of donor mantle tissue within the body of the mussel. Freshwater Pearls are unique as they are the only tissue-nucleated pearl in the world.

Natural freshwater pearl colors come in white, cream, pink, peach, purple. Grey and black colors are dyed. Freshwater pearls will maintain their color and lustre and not fade if cared for properly.

China has mastered pearl growing and are able to produced a wide variety of shapes of pearls ranging from round, potato, button, rice, coin, teardrop, baroque, squarish, rectangular, star, etc...

Pearls are graded and priced by quality on shape, lustre, color and size with the round shape and white color being premium quality.

Natural pearls will maintain its natural lustre for a lifetime if looked after properly. Just wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid chemicals like perfume, lotion, detergents as this will dull the surface. Pearl necklaces may need restringing once in a while when worn out.

This collection is an affordable alternative to natural freshwater pearls. These are man made pearls and they are imitation pearls made from plastic, glass or mother of pearl shell powder. Some simulated pearls are well made and difficult to tell the difference. To tell the difference is to touch and feel the temperature of the pearls. Real pearls are cold to touch for few seconds before warming up to your skin while simulated pearls will have the same room temperature and there is no coolness when you touch them. Simulated pearls have clean surfaces, perfect shapes with no natural irregularities and in a wide variety of shapes and colors.

Simulated pearls are used on fashion jewelry as affordable alternatives to natural pearls.

Chomel uses a combination of natural and simulated gemstones for our gemstones fashion jewelry collection Some gemstones may be color enhanced for stronger color intensity. Some people believe in the healing and meanings of gemstones when worn.

Chomel's fashion jewelry base is metal alloy and electroplated with a layer rhodium, rose gold or gold. Rhodium plated jewelry is the strongest metal of all and will not wear off so easily while rose gold and gold plated jewelry may wear off with constant wear, depending on how it is owrn and looked after.

Rhodium is a precious metal - like gold, silver or platinum - only more expensive, in fact it is the most expensive of all metals because it is very rare in nature. It is found as a by-product of platinum. Therefore rhodium prices are volatile and its availability is linked to platinum supply and demand. Rhodium is used mainly for jewelry plating due to its silvery white sheen and its hard protective coat that protects from scratches. Rhodium plating is also good to prevent any skin allergic reaction to metal alloys.

Rosegold color comes from a mixture of gold, silver and copper. This is plated over the metal alloy. Rosegold color is a more feminine color than gold and compliments all colour and skin tones.

Gold plated jewelry is a thin layer of gold mixtures electroplated on top of a metal base of alloy.
